The Adventures of a Confederate Hoosier

Ramblings of a simple man from Alabama trying to make it in Indianapolis

Let me catch my breath for a second.

As I sit hear in a Starbucks in downtown Louisville, I thank God for this chance to step away from the law books, go out to the middle of nowhere, and just bask in the glory of nature for a night.

Holly is coming over from Evansville to meet up with me, and we are going to Clarksville State Park to camp out tonight and just relax in the middle of our ridiculous schedules for a minute. For those who don’t know, Holly is in the middle of a month of Family Medicine at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN, which is about three and a half hours from Indianapolis. She came home last weekend, but just didn’t think she was up for the drive again this weekend (plus gas is crazy). So, I hopped on the Megabus and headed to Louisville. I have to head back tomorrow night, but one night is definatley better than no nights. I love my wife too much to let two weeks pass us by if I can help it.

Law School

At this point, it’s just going. I really love some of my classes and professors. The over all experience has been great so far, and I really do feel that after fighting it for so long, that law school was the best decision I could make as far as my education goes. It’s so very different than the MBA program that it’s astonishing. The MBA program almost felt like just a break from your normal life, whereas law school IS your life. I’ve read more cases than I care to think about. When I came in, they said that I’d be amazed how much it felt like high school at times, as far as your interaction with the class and how everyone is in everyone else’s business. I wouldn’t say it’s that bad…but comparing to freshman year of undergrad might not be far off. That being said, i have gotten to know some of my classmates pretty well, and overall, I feel this was the right place for me to come.

Britney Spears

A lady in attendance at the awards said it best in the ladies room – “Britney’s a hott mess!” Yup, that pretty much sums up that VMA performance. I remember when a friend in my Health class showed me his Britney Spears CD back during my junior year of high school (yes, he did go on in life to be come quite FAB-ulous). If you would have bet me any amount back then that I would see the train wreck that her career has become, I would have laughed in your face. Unfortunately for Brit, the only face getting laughed at now is hers.

Michigan Football

Just kill me now. And let me take Carr with me.

Michael Hill’s Upcoming Nuptials

First Thrill, and then soon Bianchi, that BenDrew guy, and April Green. I theorized after I graduated that I would have a wave of weddings then, and a second wave would come after that with some of the underclassman behind me. Didn’t think it would be quite this crazy (yes, technically April was an underclassmen to me, but still). I’m completely Thrilled for..well, Thrill. I’m excited to be there to hold him up on a very important day and his life.

That’s all for now, kids. One love to you all, holla.
